B1.

This is part of the #Dungeon23 challenge in which you make one room to a dungeon every day for a year. In an effort to link my memories to the creation, I am also writing a personal journal entry with each room that may or may not be related.
You don’t have to read that part.

B1.

There are massive stone mounds that have exploded through the floor, nearly reaching the ceiling. The floor is uneven from whatever cataclysm swallowed up Kik’ina Kir.

A map using the DungeonScrawl website. Check it out.

There are at least 2 Goblin Guards here at any time. And they are ready to murder any Necromancer Undead Scum that make their way down.

There are turned over tables and old shields creating makeshift barriers for cover.

The Double Doors to the north lead a goblin camp. It is barred shut from the other side. A banner hangs overhead that is has strange scrawling painted on it. What does it say? Ask a goblin and they might just tell you that it stands for Riglum, the tribe’s name.

Or they’ll eat your fucking face off. Roll to see which attitude any goblin will have. It’s either one or the other. Why? I don’t know.

GOBLIN FACTIONS

There are two factions of Golblins here. The Riglum and the Ashfoot. They don’t get along. In fact there is a white line painted down the middle of the dungeon, east to west, dividing this floor in half. Just like that episode of The Munsters.

Riglum

  • Dark blue skin color. Wear dirty fox skins.

  • Control the northern half of this floor.

  • Want to expand up the stairs and eventually out into the world at large.

Ashfoot

  • Look similar to the Riglum but are born with pale, Ashen White feet.

  • Control the southern half of this floor.

  • Want to unite the goblins and retake The Lands Below.

If you met Nurblik in room A24, he’s Riglum, and will go a long way helping you not get your face eaten by Riglum. He’s the son of the tribal chief.

What the hell even are goblins?

I don’t know.

I’m just going with it. I want to come up with something cool, but I don’t have it yet. I want them to be something different but I don’t quite know in what way yet. So until I figure it out, I’ve got two factions to deal with.

Yes they’re based on the Cubs and the White Sox. Ashfoot is more obvious than the play on Wrigley Gum. But I kinda like the idea of creating a mythology around the two. Like maybe the Riglum are infamous for training bears.

The Ashfoot have some kind of firewalking mythology.

Regardless, I don’t have to have it now, because this is a perpetual work in progress. I might not figure it out for months, but I know I’ll discover it as I keep going.

Big month. Closing on our new home in less than a week. Then moving in a few days later.

Looking forward to settling back in, and going back to work on the podcast. I really can’t wait for you all to hear where Season 3 eventually goes. I think it’s a really fun story and a pretty fun ending.

Never can tell when you’re improvising a show whether or not you’re going to reach a suitable conclusion after 12 episodes. But we’ve managed to hit the mark so far.

More importantly than all of this, I’m really looking forward to playing again. Our Sunday night game is on hiatus until we the move is over, and I’ve really wanted to try Coriolis out, among a billion other games. I just wanna hang out with people and play RPGs. Make stories.

But first more packing.

Oh and ZineQuest started. It’s an annual event where tabletop RPG creators put out some cool creations on Kickstarter. I will probably do something in which I look at some of the projects, and what I’m wanting to back. Might be a live stream (before I pack my gear) or a blog post. Not sure what, but that’s coming. I love supporting independent creators who are making awesome stuff, and I’m sure there’s going to be lots of cool projects out there.

Okay that’s it for today.

See you tomorrow.
