This is part of the #Dungeon23 challenge in which you make one room to a dungeon every day for a year. In an effort to link my memories to the creation, I am also writing a personal journal entry with each room that may or may not be related.
You don’t have to read that part.

A map using the DungeonScrawl website. Check it out.

This hexagonal room is accessible using the discs in C10. When the door opens, a variety of intense and pungent floral smells fill your nose.

At the center of the room is a large circular arch made of a white metal. Two cushioned seats extend from the base of the arch and can swivel from side to side.

At the center of the arch is a circular table made from the same white metal.

The room is overgrown with green leafy plants. However in the corner of the room is a large purple bulb sitting in metal planter, and the other plants seems to grow away from it.

Not long after entering you’ll see the bulb begin to shift, as though it’s going to split open.

Sticking around could be dangerous.

The room is bright with lanterns that shine light like the sun. Every five minutes you’ll hear the sounds of a thunderstorm in the distance, and water will mist out of the walls. Some kind of weather magic! Run for your lives!

It’s harmless.

Lasts for a minute. Happens every hour.

Nurkill Bulb

  • An ancient man-eating plant that tightens up to hibernate when no fresh meat is available. Once your pheromones come into contact with its petals, it wakes up to feed.

  • Can grasp individuals with its thick thorny vines. The thorns bury deep into your flesh so even if you get away it can slurp up the blood you leave behind.

  • The large bulb will open up and attempt bite your face. It’s teeth will break off into your skin if you manage to pull away. These aren’t just teeth, but seeds. And this is how it spreads. If a tooth manages to embed itself in your skin it will quickly take root in your muscles and become difficult to remove. Without medical attention it will slowly sap you of life and grow out from your insides.

Those with a horticultural background will recognize that many of these flowers are very rare, or are hybrids of even older more ancient plants.

3/12/23

Nice day today. We’re working on designing some rooms in our house and I think we’ve come up with some cool ideas.

Got to see my brother today. It was nice. His kids played with my kids, and there’s something really fulfilling about seeing that. I think there’s a fear to parenting that your kid might find themselves alone, at least I had that fear anyway. But seeing them playing with their cousins, I feel that fear go away. They’ll always have their family.

Someone’s birthday is Wednesday. I’m not saying who but if you’ve listened to our podcast you know who she is.

I think I just gave it away.

Oops.

See you tomorrow.
