C11.
This is part of the #Dungeon23 challenge in which you make one room to a dungeon every day for a year. In an effort to link my memories to the creation, I am also writing a personal journal entry with each room that may or may not be related.
You don’t have to read that part.
C11.
Using the disc from C10, the door to C11 activates and will slide out of the way if approached.
Inside is another hexagonal room, constructed from an amber colored metal. In the center of the room is a circular hole with a ladder to climb down.
Shelves line the walls of the hole and they’re filled with thick books. Each book holds several clear sleeves that contain a silver disc similar to the discs in C10.
The floor has a circular recession made of a strange, cloudy glass material, and it glows a golden hue as you approach.
Inscribed on the floor around this recession are runes that seem familiar to those who know the Language of Law. This is still a little difficult to decipher because it’s an ancient dialect of Law. Think Latin vs. English.
However with a little smarts and time, you’ll be eventually figure out that these runes are a part of a spell that keeps portals close. That means this glowy recession is a portal. Where does it go?
Well if you figure out how to dispel the ancient magic you can go to what will be the 9th level of this Mega Dungeon.
A keen eye who investigates this room, will be able to recognize that it was built on top of the portal - that the portal may just predate the room.
WAIT WHAT’S ON ALL THESE DISCS
I dunno. A copy of Doom?
Probably some cryptic information about what is on the other side of the portal, and why the players should open it. I don’t know what that is yet. Because I don’t know what the 9th level is yet. I got an idea. But for now…this is what we have.

I feel bad because the next few days aren’t really fleshed out, because they deal with stuff I won’t create for several months. I’m sure we’re all wanting to get back to the Butazwein stuff and Inosh.
But I’m hopeful that writing a little bit about it now will plant some ideas in my brain that will grow over time.

Had a really fun date night last night. Gail picked the movies and decided to kill a couple birds with one stone. As you may or may not know, we’re doing a book reading and movie watching challenge. You can learn all about the categories HERE.
Anyway she managed to have a fun date night and take care of two of those movie categories.
We watched Harlan County USA, a documentary about the coal miner strike in Harlan county Kentucky. Pretty incredible movie, and I was quite surprised at the blatant display of violence that amounted to very little legal consequences. Wild stuff and highly recommend it.
Then we watched the Academy Award winner for Best Cinematography - Days of Heaven, which was directed by Terrance Mallick, and features one of my theater heroes - Sam Shepard. It’s absolutely gorgeous to look at. Unsurprisingly there’s a lot of people walking through fields of grain. I mean that’s basically the majority of the movie, so it’s actually surprising that Mallick didn’t get it out of his system then.
There’s a sequence involving grasshopers and fire that absolutely needs to be seen. Also, if you’re a big fan of Paul Thomas Anderson, you might find a lot of inspiration for his films here. Particularly There Will Be Blood.
Recommend both. Check ‘em out.

I gotta get on the ball with the reading challenge. That’s the one that haunts me. I love to read but I will always put it off.
…
See you tomorrow.
