A12.
This is part of the #Dungeon23 challenge in which you make one room to a dungeon every day for a year. In an effort to link my memories to the creation, I am also writing a personal journal entry with each room that may or may not be related.
You don’t have to read that part.
A12.
This room has a rotten bed in the corner. Rocks from outside the fortress have burst through what used to be a window or arrow-slit. One can hear the sound of the river outside, but unless one can turn into fog (and who can, these days!”) you won’t be able to slip through the cracks.
The walls are covered in paintings of a strange small man walking with a crimson cloaked wizard. The two are strolling through a moonlit cemetery, and are trailed by a parade of corpses playing a variety of musical instruments.
BELGOT
There is a 1-in-6 chance that Belgot is here. He’s an small man clearly composed of different body parts. One arm is longer than the other, one leg is perhaps tanner than the other. He only has one eye, and is hoping that someday soon he’ll be getting another one from the master.
The Player who rolls the lowest on a luck roll just so happens to have beautiful eyes…
Belgot will not fight a group. He’ll run his ass off to his master and alert their giant pet snake in A10 of intruders.
If Belgot is not here he’s in room A16 working with the Necromancer that is in control of this level of Kik’ina Kir, and the Trogdars outside.
SECRET DOOR
A keen eye may discover that the painting on the east wall reveals some extra seams in the masonry. Further inspection reveals a painting of a tombstone that looks like it has been reworked much more than the rest of the mural.
The painting of the tombstone is the location of a secret latch that opens a door to room A13! What’ll it be?!?!?!?!
1/12/23
What a weird day. Talked to a grout specialist about fixing some tiles in the shower. Felt like a real grown up.
Reading a lot of people’s responses to the Wizard’s of the Coast’s OGL fiasco. It’s not great. That’s all I got. The good is seeing all these amazing publishers band together and try to work something out. It’s amazing how much this very simple, but foolish, decision has sent so many reeling. Feel bad for all the folks involved.
Honestly it makes me want to play games with people more than ever. Celebrate the hobby in the face of uncertainty.
…
My oldest picked out the movie for Family Night. He did A Christmas Story Christmas, the sequel to the beloved classic. Yes it is two weeks after Christmas.
Gail and I both thought it was great, and unlike so many nostalgic cash grabs, this felt like it had the same heart as the original. Really beautiful stuff.
However it’s the second week in a row (after last week’s Field of Dreams pick) in which we spent family night watching a movie about a guy dealing with the death of their father.
So that’s gotta stop.
My youngest picks the movie next week, and I told him if he picked The Lion King - he’s off the team.
…
Date Night is tomorrow night and it’s my turn to program the double feature. I won’t say what it is here, because Gail reads the blog, but I’m looking forward to it. Also got some D&D games happening this weekend so my dance card has gotten a bit full.
Felling pretty positive.
See you next week.
