D6-D8.

This is part of the #Dungeon23 challenge in which you make one room to a dungeon every day for a year. In an effort to link my memories to the creation, I am also writing a personal journal entry with each room that may or may not be related.
You don’t have to read that part.

D6.

A map using the DungeonScrawl website. Check it out.

The walls of D6 are still moist and full of the life of this tree.

Hanging from the ceiling of this hollowed out chamber are large green grubs, about 12 inches in length. They’re creating a nest to lay eggs.

These worms are not harmful, and are actually very nutritious for those short on supplies.

There was a single rope leading from D6 to D7, but it seems to be severed right in the middle. Adventurers who take a minute to think about it may have some questions about how one severs a rope bridge in the middle.

If they investigate the section of rope still attached to their side, they’ll see that the ends are frayed, as if chewed…

ENCOUNTER

There is a flying creature here called a Wazrik. It’s a winged creature that is covered in stiff gray fur. It’s hindquarters are strong and end in sizeable talons that could pierce leather armors, and pluck a man off his feet.

Attempting to cross here may result in a Wazrik attack.

D7.

Watching from this tree is Sikla. Sikla is a Mordaman, an ancient civilzation of humans that remained in the earth. Many rumors about Mordaman persist throughout communities, painting them as devils that kidnap children who stray too far from the safety of their community.

Depending on which direction the players come from, Sikla will either take the rope bridge to the north to D5, or swing on a series of vines from D7 to D8. Rad.

The Mordaman Situation:

The last remnants of the Mordama civilization survive here and in a slave camp below, deeper into this cave system. A small few are using the hanging trees as a base to plot their revenge on the slavers below.

Sikla observes the adventurers from a far, and will warn the others of their presence. If the adventurers show a certain quality, she may look to them for help in fighting the slavers and freeing their people.

D8.

The center pillar inside this tree is covered in a variety of fungus. It’s too orderly to be natural. In fact it is a fungal garden, developed by the Mordama who live up here. There is a 1-6 chance that someone is here harvesting some for dinner.

4/8/23

I’m getting to relaxed about missing days. That’s gotta stop. New streak starts now.

Big week this week as we released a new episode of our podcast, Out of Depth Plays. Before the hiatus we were half way through out super hero themed season, and I’m really happy to get those last remaining episodes out.

So lots of good stuff coming up. Gail and I have been talking about the future of Out of Depth and it’s all exciting. I don’t think either of us can wait much longer to start Season 4 of the podcast.

See you tomorrow.
