C26-C31.

This is part of the #Dungeon23 challenge in which you make one room to a dungeon every day for a year. In an effort to link my memories to the creation, I am also writing a personal journal entry with each room that may or may not be related.
You don’t have to read that part.

C26 .

A map using the DungeonScrawl website. Check it out.

Large stalagmites line the east and west walls of this corridor, creating ample opportunities to hide.

The central space is smooth and sloped like a shallow skateboard half-pipe.

ENCOUNTER

A spectre is trapped in this area. It appears like a tattered knight, on a rotting steed. It treads the center alley of this chamber, impaling onlookers with its lance.

One may recognize that this specter bares resemblance to some of the Kik’ina Kir warriors.

A Lawful cleric may be able to restore peace and order to this spirit allowing them to pass on. This will also give the players an opportunity to ask one question and get an answer.

C27.

One can hear the squeals of Butazawein throughout this circular corridor.

The central chamber is hidden, and can be discovered by any goblin guides. The interior is absolutely disgusting with rotten skin sacks for birthing goblins. This used to be the birthing room.

The ceiling is partially caved in, with a corridor that leads tooooo B16. Remember that area?

C28.

A group of 4 Butazwein are stationed here. If Inosh knows where you are, it will send these 4 after you.

If you manage to not alert Inosh, and sneak into this room, the Butazwein are found lying on the floor in a trance, communing with their dark overlord. This is their stasis and they are only awaiting orders. Disrupting their trance will cause them to wake up in a frenzy so make a good call here.

C29.

Rings of descending platforms make up this massive circular room. Each platform is five feet down to the next. The center space is 20 feet in diameter and is a gaping hole.

A group of seven shrouded figures gather around the pit, chanting a grotesque incantation in the Chaotic tongue.

These shrouded figures are zombie cutlists of Kik’ina Kir. They only know to bring rise to Inosh, and their life energy is dedicated to only that.

Disrupting this incantation will bring Inosh’s fury, who is looking to be given a proper avatar on this plane of existence. Inosh will command more butazwein from C30 to attack any interlopers.

If any Lawful characters are tossed into the pit, Inosh will take this sacrifice and begin their final ascendance from the depths of Chaos.

If you have the spell from B16 then you may want to get your Lawful character to start popping that off. Probably a good idea to have any other characters protect that Lawful one from attacking zombies and Butazwein.

ALMOST INOSH

Inosh is emerging from the pit of chaos. They can use a turn to inhale, sucking characters down a level or two each round, depending on any type of save that can be made. This also means Inosh may suck in their own henchmen. That’s cool - everyone is getting ate anyway.

Players will need to fend off creatures while ensuring that they’re not sucked into the pit. Keep your head on a swivel. Anyone who falls into the pit is dead. Instant. You’re fucked, bro.

USING THAT RITUAL

If you successfully use the spell you discovered, you will dispel Inosh back into the wastes of Chaos. But that’s not all. The entire earth will tremble as Kik’ina Kir rises from the earth. You can watch as the ceiling above you splits open and you see the sky.

Kik’ina Kir now floats high up in the sky. Maybe you manage to hitch a ride to it. I don’t know. But it’s now situated above the earth, floating near a mountain. People are going to notice.

But you might have just won yourself a floating fortress.

C30.

This is another pocket room with 4 Butazwein. Taking care of them first may make the C29 confrontation easier.

The Riglum goblin hunting party are being batted around like playtoys. Well, all of them but one. One is being split in half when you walk in. The Butazwein eat their sickly gray entrails. There are two surviving members of the Hunting Party and they want to get the hell out of here.

Clearing this room one will be able to uncover a crude drawing of a gaunt, tall creature with long fingers. Anyone who took note of the metal panel to C10, may have some questions.

Any living goblins will know this figure only as The Wanderer. It lurks in the shadows and is a bad omen. No one has seen it since the rise of Inosh.

There is a secret entrance to C31 in the south wall, just under the drawing of the Wanderer. It is tucked under a fake stone sculpted of dirt, dung, and snail shells.

C31.

Inside this room is old junk that goblins have collected over decades. Old daggers and stray arrows. Bits of armor could be cobbled together for something worthwhile. Searching this room reveals a rotten fabric that is covering an incredible bow.

Treasure:

Bow of Teleos

When you fire an arrow with this bow, you and all your belongings are magically transferred to the arrow which carries you through the air. Essentially you can use the bow and arrow to teleport to wherever the arrow lands. So if you wanted to use this as a way to scale a castle wall - you can do that. If you want to fire yourself at a thief on the run and tackle them to the ground, you can do that too.

3/31/23

There we go. We finished the first three levels!

I’d like to go back and clean up these past three months and put them into one file for people to play with. I think I’d do it with Into the Odd rules.

These three months essentially represent one full arc of the mega dungeon. Tomorrow I begin a new arc, and it wasn’t until yesterday that I realized what April’s level was going to be like. I think it’ll be pretty neat. Can’t wait to show everyone.

Thanks for everyone who’s been reading with us these past three months. Thanks to everyone who’s supported us on the Patreon.

I’m so stoked because I have some good news, but I’m not going to say until next week.

Let’s just say I’m really excited to not just be writing Dungeon 23 entries anymore.

See you tomorrow.
