B26.
This is part of the #Dungeon23 challenge in which you make one room to a dungeon every day for a year. In an effort to link my memories to the creation, I am also writing a personal journal entry with each room that may or may not be related.
You don’t have to read that part.
B26.
Most of this room has been crushed by the earth. What walls are left are lined with rotted shelves and broken glass.
Inspection and a background in medicine may reveal that this room was once a medical facility. One might recognize ancient surgical tools that have long since evolved into something less barbaric in today’s field of medicine.
One lucky investigator may discover a vile of light blue liquid in the debris. It has some how managed to survive all these years.
CERULEORUS EXTRACT
Ceruleorus are large fungal growths that are generally found deep in the earth.
Drinking this gives you a mild connection to Cerulerorus mushrooms. You can sense them when they’re near and even communicate with them in basic ways. Like “Is there danger?” “Is there food?” Consider that these would be from the mushroom’s perspective not a human’s.
Side effect: You will eventually develop fungal tendencies as you try to keep the Ceruleorus aspect of your blood happy. Like you gravitate towards dark, moist areas. Over time you will be able to touch dead matter and break it down for sustenance. You may even grow to prefer that.
Additional Side Effect: It’s up to the person running the game, but the person who drinks this may end up spreading it to other people, until eventually everyone is connected by Ceruleorus fungus. Feel free to not do that if it’s a fucking hassle. I mean I just made it up and I think it’s a hassle. Just putting it out there.

Hey, some mushroom stuff that might become important later..
…
It was a somewhat annoying day. We had to get a washer and dryer. The washer came. The dryer didn’t. It was one of those situations where you wanted to get angry at everyone you spoke to because of all the conflicting information.
However I had to keep in mind that all of them were just reading what was on the computer, and the computer was giving them bad information.
Garbage in, garbage out.
Even with that in mind I still found myself getting bothered at everyone’s desire to not want to fix the problem. Each person I spoke to desperately wanted their hands to be tied or to move the responsibility on to someone else. It’s a tactic I can’t particularly stomach.
I want to believe this is bred into the employees by the Big Box Corporate structure, who want their customer service associates to have zero power to make things right. Because most of the time they’ll be the ones eating shit from the disgruntled customer.
It’s also disheartening that the “management” at these stores understand the game just like their corporate leaders, and seem to make themselves scarce during a problem.
So I try to remember all of this and not treat people poorly. I think I did okay. I was assertive, but I made sure to let everyone know I blamed no one - I just wanted it fixed. Be apart of the solution. Let’s figure it out together. That kind of stuff.
…
What a boring diary post. “I had a problem at a store today.”
Well we’ve all been there, I guess.
…
Playing some D&D tonight. Last week’s session was one of the funniest I’ve had with this particular group. It was also the first time I’ve played an RPG in the new house. Hopefully it’s an auspicious sign of our future here.
…
About to go back to Chicago at the end of the week. One last run of cleaning so we can list our old place and finally be done with the whole mess.
…
See you tomorrow.
