B22.
This is part of the #Dungeon23 challenge in which you make one room to a dungeon every day for a year. In an effort to link my memories to the creation, I am also writing a personal journal entry with each room that may or may not be related.
You don’t have to read that part.
B22.
The door to this room is made of polished gold-colored granite.
One cannot enter unless they are Lawful OR perform a ritual here in this room committing their life to follow the Lawful path. A description of this ritual can be found in the front page of the Ancient Book of Law on the desk in B21. It is written in plain-speak language so anyone can learn it.
Someone who speaks Law may recognize that this room is meant to “empower Lawful Warriors.”
Neutral characters may touch the door but cannot pass through it. Chaotic characters can’t even get into room B21.
The interior of the room is stone with three wooden podiums. The podiums have a silken pillow where an item of great value will rest.
First Podium: The Helm of Clarity
Magic cannot befuddle you. Your mind is clear and the influence of Chaos will be held at bay while wearing this Helm. However you are still susceptible to illusions.
Second Podium: The Shield of Luminescence
Pray behind this shield while wielding no weapon and it will shine a light that repels undead. Some undead, such as liches, are of a strong enough caliber that they can resist the power of this Shield. But their minions will suffer.
Third Podium: Empty
The silken pillow looks like it once contained a long sword.
The Lawful Armaments of Kik’ina Kir.
These artifacts are a part of a collection known as the Lawful Armaments. There are 5 in total and together they are more powerful than just the sum of their parts. Collecting them would be pretty fucking dope, don’t you think?
2/22/23
I love the idea of magic item set collections, so I’m happy to throw these in here. Of course we had a little mystery with the sword missing, so now you know you’re looking for one of those. Additionally there are two other items that you’ll have to research to discover what you’re looking for.
I like these kinds of moments where you start making plans for the future during a dungeon delve. It’s one thing to have progression levels to look forward to but those are very static - milestones that are set before you play and everyone who lives will eventually achieve them. But, for me, the juice is when you come up with your own grand schemes to achieve. Plots and ambitions that have no mechanical method of accomplishment in the rulebook. I loooove that kind of stuff.
So I’m trying to be more aware of that as I build out this mega dungeon. I’ll try to inject little moments and situations that can inspire players to come up with their own schemes.
See you tomorrow.
