A27.
This is part of the #Dungeon23 challenge in which you make one room to a dungeon every day for a year. In an effort to link my memories to the creation, I am also writing a personal journal entry with each room that may or may not be related.
You don’t have to read that part.
A27.
All doors leading to this room are locked.
The walls inside this room are lined with wooden alcoves and cubbyholes. It’s kinda like a locker room. The wood is rotten, and in some areas collapsed. There are rusted pieces of armor scattered throughout.
The door to the north is old, with pocked wood and rusted banding. The door to the east is more contemporary, with a large lock.
A keen eye might discern some plate armor that could be salvaged, but it would need to be cleaned and taken care of using the appropriate tools.
This armor is magical, and that magic is unlocked by taking care of it.
Magic Item: Armor of the Radiant Law.
Written in Lawful on the inside of the breastplate, is a history of this armor, and its ability to fight the forces of Chaos.
This armor can radiate light so that you can see in dungeons. It needs to be recharged by the sun at the end of each day in order to be used again.
Once a day, you can expend its radiant charge to blind everything around you.
1/27/23
We officially have our closing date on the new house. So now everything can be plotted around that, which is nice. There are a lot of moving parts that needed that to fall in place.
I think my kids are most interested in whether they’ll be without the internet for an extended period of time.
I have similar concerns, but I won’t tell them that. Instead I say shit like “I guess you’ll just have to do without! I didn’t have the internet when I was a kid and I turned out just fine!”
But I don’t want to be without the internet either. I need to update this blog of course.
And play D&D with my friends online.
And watch youtube videos of people hearing sound for the first time.
You know, important stuff.
…
I can’t believe four more entries and we’re done with the first level of a mega-dungeon. This has been a lot of fun, and it’s gotten me thinking about a lot of other projects, like my own RPG system.
I think if you play enough you end up developing your own patchwork system that includes all your favorite bits in one game. And I’ve been thinking a lot about what that game would look like. Especially when I started working on the cleric concept idea.
I think my game would take the fight of Chaos vs. Law very seriously. A very pulpy good vs. evil kinda game. And magic would be scary like in Dungeon Crawl Classics.
…
Anyway. That’s it for today.
See you tomorrow.
